Job Description
Assistant Professor of Health Sciences (Tenure-track), College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences
Butler University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences invites applications for two campus-based positions: assistant professor, tenure track, 10-month appointments in the Department of Health Sciences.
We are in search of individuals with an advanced degree and expertise in a health sciences-related field to teach undergraduate courses in a variety of areas including healthcare ethics, interprofessional health education, nutrition, public health, medical Spanish, healthcare systems and policy, healthcare quality and safety, and pharmacology. Exact teaching assignments will be based on the successful applicants’ skillsets. We are interested in innovative candidates who motivate, engage, and respect all learners and colleagues.
Requirements
Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree in a related field or a terminal degree in a health profession.
  • Research experience and scholarly achievement
  • Academic advising experience preferred
  • The ability to work cooperatively and congenially with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience teaching undergraduate, graduate, or professional learners
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Responsibilities
  • Building and maintaining an inclusive learning environment for an increasingly diverse student population
  • Academic advising of undergraduate students
  • Teaching undergraduate coursework (and potentially graduate coursework in the future) as assigned by department chair based on faculty member skillsets and university needs. A typical teaching load is three 3 credit hour classes fall and spring terms.
  • Research and scholarly activity, including the involvement of undergraduate students
  • Service to the department, university, and profession
