Job Description
ASSISTANT BRAND MANAGER – MARC JACOBS FRAGRANCES


US LOCAL MARKETING NEW YORK, NEW YORK


As the Assistant Brand Manager you will be responsible for planning, forecasting and analyzing the fragrance business in order promote the overall growth of the Marc Jacobs portfolio, while managing the day-to-day business needs.


As Assistant Brand Manager you will also assist in the development and execution of annual marketing plans for the US, working with cross-functional teams and managing the day-to-day business needs.


In the role the individual will be reporting into a senior marketing manager, and will get to discover many different aspects of local marketing focusing both on long-term brand building, as well as shorter-term business drivers like promo or trade activations. The person will act as the brand guardian in the US and make business recommendations relevant to the overall growth of the brands in the beauty category.


THE ROLE


In this role you will be responsible for:


Marketing strategy
  • Preparing with manager’s guidance forecasting updates, synthesis/analysis.
  • Work in close partnership with Global Marketing teams (based in New York City) to support global in the development of long-term strategic direction including innovation pipeline.
  • Creating and delivering retailer presentations to obtain their buy-in as needed in partnership with Sell-in teams.
  • Assisting in the management of the brand portfolio.
  • Media: Assisting in the management of media planning process & asset development for the portfolio.
  • Partnering with cross-functional departments to ensure successful delivery of local market needs and effectiveness of marketing programs.
  • Input to cross-functional initiative meetings.
  • Portfolio/brands performance analysis and specific programs deep-dive.
  • Managing communication and alignment of promotional/non-promotional programs
  • Other on-going analysis: consumer trends, consumer insights, category dynamics and competitive knowledge.
  • Assisting in the development and execution of plans for the US to reach SOM, Sales and Financial targets defined for the brand.
  • Collaborate on influencer strategy with in-house Influencer Team.

  • Flawless launch of newness including 360 ATL and BTL campaigns.


SKU Management


  • Manage & support all forecasting (saleable and non-saleable items): enter forecast in system for initiatives based on benchmark, fragrance trends and retailer feedback. Update forecast as needed.
  • Work with Demand Planning and Sales Operations teams to ensure accuracy in forecasts and calendarization of saleable and promotional items in order to achieve quarterly profit targets.
  • Keep SKU assortment lists by retailer or channel updated and communicate with cross-functional teams accordingly.
  • Monitor inventory levels.
  • Provide SKU logistics information to cross-functional teams as requested.


Merchandising (Online, Brick and Mortar)


  • Ensure brand cohesiveness across all brick & mortar doors despite customization by channel as well as online.
  • Create, & review all planograms.
  • Ensure brand guidelines are respected in all instore merchandising executions (permanent and temporary) as well as online.
  • Work with local and global merchandising teams on strategy as well as instore and online execution.


Brand Execution


  • Monitor online stores and B&M stores on a regular basis (following company’s health and safety guidelines).
  • Ensure perfect in-store and online execution of the brand.
  • Enable the field sales and education teams for engaging fragrance instore events.
  • Update sell books.


Commercial Strategy


  • Collaborate on Ecommerce strategy (Retailer.com, Pure Players).
  • Create and update retailer presentations as required. Work closely with channel and global team to provide lab samples and comps for retailer meetings.
  • Plan trade activation with sales (sell-in, sell-thru teams) and channel strategy teams.
  • Present novelties and brand strategy to retailers and business partners.


Qualifications


We’d love to see candidates who have:


Essential:


  • A bachelor's degree is required, and an MBA is preferred
  • 2+ years relevant work experience in marketing or product management
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Knowledge in some areas of marketing (programs development, media planning including digital, market analysis, market research, P&L & A&CP management, marketing plans development…) and project management skills
  • Good knowledge of digital media and influencer programs
  • Experience in beauty categories is a plus, experience in skincare would be ideal
  • Focus on results and tenacity to get things done on time and on budget despite internal and external obstacles
  • MS Office (specifically Excel, PowerPoint)
  • NPD & data analytics skills
  • Proactivity and start-up mindset: ability to move, propose new ideas and take actions before asked
