Assistant Lead Kitchen Steward

Position Summary

Assists with supervising the daily operation of the stewarding department and operational responsibilities such as, but not limited to; ware washing, china, glass and silver washing, storage and organization of these items; delegation and supervision of kitchen cleaning and organization projects, organization and cleanliness of operational equipment for daily needs and banquet event needs. Helps train and holds team members accountable to high level of food safety and sanitation along with appropriate use of chemicals and equipment. Assists with food production tasks.

Position Responsibilities

• Practice safe and sanitary food handling and preparation procedures
• Takes full reasonability over cleanliness and organization of Food & Beverage storage areas
• Organizes and prioritizes multiple projects to meet deadlines
• Takes full responsibility over kitchen cleanliness
• Works well with team and communicates efficiently
• Communicates and follow ups with all other stewards, assist and provide team work as needed, holding the team accountable to set standards
• Maintains a clean, organized and hygienic work areas
• Makes good decisions, delegates tasks to stewards when necessary
• Proactive, creative and flexible when it comes to problem solving
• Takes direction from Stewarding Supervisor, Executive Chef and Sous Chefs, ask questions when necessary

• Leads and assists with daily ware washing and trash removal
• Teaches, trains and holds stewarding team accountable to food safe and proficient use of equipment and ware washing
• Cleanliness and organization of loading dock and trash bay

• Assists with special menus and events
• Assists with on boarding new hires with training and development

• Performs other kitchen duties as assigned

Qualification Standards

• Demonstrates a controlled sense of urgency
• Food Handlers certification is required
• Must be able to read and understand English and communicate members in a professional manner
• Knowledge and understanding of chemicals their use and cleaning techniques
• Must be able to operate stewarding equipment safely and mindful
• Reliable and punctual

Education

• Must be able to read and understand English

Experience

• 5 plus years of work related experience, preferable in hospitality
