Job Description
Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

Overview:
Assist the Golf Course Superintendent in managing all phases of golf course maintenance.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Advises Superintendent of course conditions.
  • Act, dress, and behave in a professional manner to reflect a positive image of the club.
  • Advises the superintendent of all performance issues and the enforcement of performance standards.
  • Respond promptly when returning telephone calls and replying to correspondence and faxes.
  • Assists in instructing, training, and directing crew, and performs checks of processes throughout the job.
  • Communicate with members, coworkers, management, staff, the general public, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Fills in for the superintendent and the technicians when needed.
  • Oversees cleanup and storage of tools and equipment at the end of the shift.
  • Assist in the oversight of chemical and fertilizer applications.
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
  • Assists in planning and scheduling, and the supervision of all maintenance personnel in the performance of maintenance processes and procedures.
Education and Experience Required:
  • Requires a valid Florida driver’s license, and a good driving record.
  • Bachelor’s degree or Associates degree in Agronomy or Horticulture plus a minimum of one to two years of golf course maintenance experience, with some supervision preferred, or any equivalent combination of related training and experience. Previous club experience is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate well orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to supervise work effectively.
  • Ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work in the heat for extended periods of time.

Pay Rate is $60,000 to $70,000 per year DOE
