Job Summary
The University of Colorado Boulder Athletics department encourages applications for an Assistant Director, Training Coordinator of Psychological Health and Performance! This position will assist the Director and Associate Director in the delivery of general psychological services (evaluation, treatment and education) to student-athletes. This position will provide consultation and relevant training to coaches, athletic trainers, academic staff, and other athletic department staff within the realm of psychological services.
The Assistant Director, Training Coordinator will determine components of the training program offered to trainees, manage the assignment of trainees to other supervising staff, coordinate the selection process and make final decisions regarding accepted trainees, oversee agreements and relationships with participating programs, coordinate schedules, coordinate and facilitate orientation for new trainees, and facilitate ongoing training and continuing education in training for other training supervisors. The Assistant Director, Training Coordinator will also provide individual and group supervision of trainees and provide supervision of supervision conducted by post-docs. The Assistant Director, Training Coordinator will work closely with Psychological Health and Performance's Director and Associate Director in coordinating the training program with direct service and outreach needs to the athletic department, and ensure high quality, inclusive and responsive services to athletes and the department as a whole. The Assistant Director, Training Coordinator will evaluate the effectiveness of the training program in achieving training objectives and have the ability to create an APA-Accredited pre-doctoral internship site with a specialization in sport psychology.
Additionally, the Assistant Director, Training Coordinator will have demonstrated commitment, skills and experience in diversity and inclusion programming and clinical expertise in working with traditionally underserved or marginalized populations.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Participate in relevant special projects and meetings.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Provide consulting and outreach services to coaches, athletic trainers, academic staff, and other administrative personnel regarding the psychological well-being of individual student athletes and team members.
- Work closely in collaboration with team physicians regarding appropriate NCAA documentation as well as making medication recommendations for disorders/disabilities.
- Serve as a resource for diversity and inclusion work within the department, including participation in ongoing cultural outreach efforts.
- Participate in student-athlete pre-performance physical examinations by introducing mental health and how to access services.
- Responsible for assessing and treating common psychological issues such as anxiety/depression, eating disorders, substance abuse, grief, sexual trauma, and personality disorders.
- Identify psychological and performance education outreach needs and offer relevant programming, including the facilitation of team workshops and mental performance work with teams.
- Provide daytime crisis intervention and emergency services in situations involving individual student-athletes or teams.
- Participate in professional organizations and activities, workshops, seminars, and develop programs related to expertise.
- Ensure trainees are providing high quality, inclusive and responsive services to student-athletes and department as a whole.
- Participate in continuing education and professional association activities related to performance of job functions and the maintenance of skills.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the training program, make necessary adjustments and improvements, and develop an APA-accredited internship site with a specialization in sport psychology.
- Oversee, manage, and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the training program.
- Participate in and facilitate Peer Supervision meetings with other supervisors within PHP.
- Provide support to trainees, and facilitate ongoing training and education of trainees.
- Other duties as assigned which could include assistance with the center's policy and procedure manual as well as other administrative tasks not related to clinical load.
- Maintain the training manuals each year with updated information.
- Develop and maintain relationships with organizational units that can assist and/or enhance the mental health services provided to student-athletes.
- Adhere to principles stated in the Athletic Department’s Mission Statement and promote loyalty to the mission by all staff and student-athletes under their supervision.
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of and remain current on rules and regulations of the NCAA and the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) regarding banned drugs and restricted substances, particularly NCAA by-law 16.5.2. (g) & (h).
- Understand and follow state statutes governing the ethical provision of psychological care, as well as those rules governing the Athletic Department, University, PAC-12, and the NCAA.
- All University of Colorado Boulder employees are required to comply with the campus COVID-19 vaccine requirement. New employees will provide proof of vaccination or receive a medical or religious exemption within 30 days of employment.
- This role works 100% from campus.
- The salary range is $70,000 - $102,000 annually.
- Relocation is available within department guidelines.

What We Require
- Ability to become licensed in the state of Colorado within 6 months if you already hold licensure in another state.
- Mood disorders.
- Three+ years of clinical experience post licensure.
- Expertise in one or more of the following areas is required:
- Master's degree in Counseling Psychology or Clinical Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work.
- Trauma and trauma-related disorders, treatment, and approaches.
- Crisis management.
- Experience in trauma-informed care.
- Strong ability to treat clients across various spectrums, including: race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, ability, and economic status through a social justice lens.
- Experience working with high-risk populations.
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice and inclusivity in a multicultural learning environment.
- Multicultural competence and interest/expertise in trauma-focused therapeutic approaches.
- CMPC through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology or experience in Division I intercollegiate athletics or with professional athletes.
- Earned Doctorate in Counseling Psychology or Clinical Psychology.
- Experience working as a training director/coordinator or extensive experience in clinical supervision and training of post-doctoral residents, doctoral interns, and practicum clinicians.
