Position Details:

Summary of Duties:

This position will provide leadership and oversight across several key areas of Operations in CAHNRS. Specifically, this positions will oversee IT support, systems, and development and will be responsible for overall IT system and process architecture for CAHNRS. This position is the Area Technology Officer for CAHNRS and will engage all areas of the WSU system in matters of IT governance and leadership. This position is also responsible for managing multiple budgets, the management of an IT service center, and handling position and personnel duties. Additionally, this position will assist the Director of Operations in capital planning, space management, facilities liaison, safety planning and any other areas of Operations and ongoing projects necessary. This position will work with the Director to grow and sustain the programs and services within Operations.

Required Qualifications:
  • A Masters degree and five (5) years progressively responsible professional experience, of which two (2) years must have been in a leadership role OR a combination of education and experience totaling ten (10) years from which comparable knowledge and abilities are acquired.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of IT security standards, best practices, and vulnerability scanning;
  • Experience with capital projects and planning.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to work with a team in planning, implementing, and reviewing large and small IT-related projects
  • Understanding and knowledge regarding various Linux distributions and open-source trends.
  • Public speaking experience, e.g., presentations, training.
  • Experience in Higher Education.
  • Demonstrated experience in organizational advocation and experience with establishing effective interdepartmental relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience of taking initiative.
  • Knowledge and experience working in a lead role within an IT organization
  • Knowledge and experience with ITSM tools.
  • Understanding and experience implementing ITIL framework;
  • Understanding and experience with SD-WAN technology;
  • Understanding of industry technological trends and experience with Microsoft Server features and roles (IIS, SQL, S2D, Hyper-V, etc.);

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to mid-point of the salary range.
