Posting Summary


Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking an Assistant Dean III . Reporting to the Assistant Dean & Director, Office of Graduate Admissions, on the Newark and New Brunswick campuses and is responsible for the range of duties typically associated with recruiting the entering class at all stages of the recruitment cycle for the specialty master students.


The Assistant Dean III is responsible for and not limited to the following.


  • Co-creates and implements marketing strategies for specialty master programs and oversees specialty master social media
  • Processes and review the application file of candidates and makes recommendations as to which students should move forward in the admissions process
  • Travel amongst regional campuses may be required
  • Participates in Admission Committee meetings
  • Serves as the specialty master programs liaison to RBS Communications
  • Frequent innovation and assessment of experimental recruiting strategies

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience


  • Also requires a minimum of three years experience in academic, student counseling or frontline customer service; excellent communication skills; and computer literacy
  • Requires a master’s degree in student development, higher education counseling, education, social work, or related area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of student development and academic theories, methodologies, and current practices in higher education


Certifications/Licenses
  • Requires valid driver’s license


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Full understanding of current marketing terms and theories
  • Knowledge of cutting-edge practices and tools for marketing, such as social media analytics, are essential to reach the next generation of graduate students


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a higher education setting is preferred
  • Managerial experience is preferred
  • One year of experience working in an Admissions Office environment is preferred.
