Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Assistant Coach for the Baseball team. Under the direct supervision of the Head Coach, this position will be assisting in the coordination of a baseball intercollegiate athletic program which provides an opportunity for student-athletes to train and compete on a competitive, Division I baseball program while attending school to earn a college degree.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Assists in developing, teaching and instructing the student-athletes in the proper rules of competition, conditioning. skills and techniques on the field and in life-skills and leadership qualities on and off the field.
  • Recruits high level academically and athletically skilled male students to attend Rutgers to earn a degree and to compete in the baseball program.
  • Assists in establishing and maintaining a nationally competitive intercollegiate baseball team within the Big Ten Conference and NCAA.
  • Assists in organizing and conducting practices and competitions at a high level of efficiency and success.
  • Assists in fundraising and public relations events that support the objectives of the program and allow for program enhancements.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Certifications/Licenses
  • Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver’s license would be required for this position.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Computer literate.
  • Knowledge of NCAA regulations relative to proper rules of play in the sport of baseball.
  • Ability to communicate with student-athletes and the media.
  • Good organization skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • High school or collegiate baseball coaching and competition experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Big Ten Conference and NCAA regulations.

Immunization Requirements

Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees, Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
