Job Summary

The Assistant Athletic Director is responsible for assisting the Athletic Director in developing and sustaining a successful athletic program with a strong emphasis on strengthening the relationship between sports coaches and student-athletes, delegating when necessary via the AD's directions. The Assistant AD's responsibilities are not limited to the playing season as events, season planning, individual sport development, and fostering an overall successful program. We are in our 5th year as a school. Our enrollment is around 300 students.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Delegate specific department mandates such as communication, individual coaches' responsibilities, and other considerations when necessary.
  • Adhere to all school, conference, and IHSAA policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining good public relations with news media, booster club, parents, community, fans, administration, and co-workers.
  • Coordinate and assist with all aspects of the athletic department with the Athletic Director.
  • Other duties assigned by the Athletic Director/Principal such as being present at home contests throughout the year and working on concessions activities.

  • Ensure that all website and social media information is up to date and accurate while maintaining accurate stats, records, and results and dispersing them accordingly on pphsnorthathletics.com.
  • Coordinate with Athletic Director and document all post-season items, including but not limited to post-season awards, changes to the schedule, assistant coaches meetings, and individual player meetings.
  • Recruitment and vetting of qualified coaches; train and inform staff and encourage professional development within the coaching staff.
  • Monitor the academic progress of all players within each sport.
  • Ensure the student-athlete has a well-rounded experience, including enforcing discipline while helping our student-athletes learn the necessities of life outside the realm of sports.
  • Be a positive role model and exhibit model conduct and appearance on and off the court.
  • Demonstrate fiscal responsibility for the annual budget, including but not limited to the collection of money for player packs, using approved vendors, and working with the Athletic Director on all purchases.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow coaches at Purdue Polytechnic North to encourage student-athletes to participate in multiple sports.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience working with a diverse, non-traditional, inner-city population in their efforts to achieve higher education and career goals is highly preferred
  • High creativity, organizational skills, and ability to work independently
  • Associates Degree required (Bachelor’s Preferred)
  • Strong professional relationship-building skills with the ability to connect with people from a variety of backgrounds
  • Strong written and public speaking skills
  • Strong technical skills, including familiarity with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides etc.)
