Job Description

Job Summary

Implements asset protection and safety objectives to control loss and reduce risk. Analyzes and reviews data to identify and respond to theft and fraud. Reviews safety standards to ensure compliance within their area of responsibility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Communicates with retail leadership and partners about workplace safety through safety checks and regular communication on safety trends found in the workplace.
  • Reviews and analyzes video documentation, Company reports, security data and other information to detect loss.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs asset protection equipment to ensure they are in proper working order.
  • Completes and maintains case files, paperwork, expense reports, and other administrative responsibility as needed.
  • Provides informal and formal training with retail store partners and district staff on asset protection and safety issues.
  • Evaluates retail workplace environments, equipment, and practices for compliance with corporate asset protection and safety standards.
  • Develops contacts and maintains liaison relationship with law enforcement in assigned locations.
  • Conducts internal and external investigations, including interview of suspects, development of case evidence, and testimony in civil and criminal hearings.
  • Conducts audits in the areas of asset protection and safety to ensure compliance of Company standards at store level.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to comprehend and interpret information.
  • Intermediate knowledge of retail asset protection and safety methods, procedures, equipment and systems.
  • Working knowledge of the Origami case management software.
  • Ability to prepare reports and business correspondence.
  • Basic knowledge of SAP reporting and transactional applications.
  • Ability to work on-call and flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage time.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form.
  • Ability to research information, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Intermediate knowledge of legal and civil regulations related to retail asset protection and safety.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
  • Ability to learn new technology systems, methods and processes.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to reason, form concepts and recognize and solve problems.
  • Required to travel to off-site and out-of-town locations with possible overnight stays.
  • Basic knowledge of software systems used for the purpose of planning, forecasting and budgeting.
  • Ability to show information in presentation or diagram form.
  • Will be required to drive in accordance with the BGC Driver Policy.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and four or more years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and higher education required.
  • Minimum of 18 years of age required.
  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) certification required.
  • Anti-Money Laundering (AML) certification preferred.
  • Advanced level Interview and Interrogation training from Wicklander-Zulawski, John E. Reid & Associates, or an equivalent training course required.
  • Industry related certification (CPP, CFI, LPC, etc.) preferred.
  • OSHA 10 Hour General Industry training required.

Physical Demands

  • Occasionally required to push, pull, maneuver or lift objects up to 40 lbs.
