Aquaculture Specialist Jobs

This Aquaculture Specialist will be responsible for:

• Operating sophisticated recirculating aquaculture systems, as well as aquatics tank washers, feeding robots, and integrated electronic water quality monitoring systems, all observing standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.
• Feeding the populations of fish the proper type and amount of food, depending on life stage and experimental application.
• Providing training on some practices and procedures to new employees and scientific staff.
• Maintaining live invertebrate cultures for feeding larval fish.
• Performing daily oversight and operation of aquaculture systems and communicating any problems to the ARP Manager or Specialist II.
• Performing and recording daily animal health and welfare observations, communicating adverse findings to the ARP manager and Specialist II.
• Performing and recording all water quality testing.
• Performing various husbandry tasks, including spawning, in-vitro fertilization, and other procedures that involve the handing of fish.
• Monitoring supply needs and orders needed items in timely manner.

To qualify, you must have:

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with people from a wide variety of social and educational backgrounds.
• Work requires the analytical skills to identify highly complex problems requiring the application of clinical, scientific or technical principles, theories and concepts and in‑depth, cross‑functional experienced‑based knowledge.
• Work requires the 2-3 years of experience working in an aquaculture environment.
