Job Description

:

  • Responsible for assisting crew with tasks as required, to perform underground or overhead distribution construction installation and maintenance projects.
  • May be required to work weekends, evenings and holidays. Travel may be required.
  • Not qualified to work on energized lines or equipment above 600 volts without direct supervision but can work around energized lines and equipment above 600 volts safely.
  • Duties include but are not limited to the following: opening and closing overhead and underground line and transformer fuses and switches, climbing poles, operate bucket trucks.
  • Gathering and assembling material required to complete tasks at multiple locations, equipment operation.
  • Responsibilities will also include terminating, splicing cables, working on lines and equipment up to 600 volts.
  • Responsible for the assisting in the construction, maintenance and repair of energized and de-energized overhead and underground electrical distribution lines and equipment.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must follow all safe work practices.
  • Must have a high level of attention to detail and mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of distribution system construction and maintenance specifications for all voltages.
  • Certification required.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Certified to climb wood poles, operate a bucket truck and perform pole top rescues.
  • Valid Texas Driver License.
  • Advanced skills in math.
  • Must be able to fluently read, write, speak and comprehend English.

Preferred Requirements:
  • Lineman College certificate.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Class A CDL.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces. Must be able to move freely, including ability to stoop, crawl, and bend at the knees and waist. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds unassisted. Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing. May be required to work long and unpredictable hours. Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather.
