Job Description

Overview

Responsibilities

Position will assist in maintaining databases, documents and records of the Animal Care and Conservation Departments. Job functions will include but are not limited to updating Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and Zoological Association of America (ZAA) Animal Program documents, updating the Conservation Grants database, Research database, departmental budget database and data entry. May assist in updating vendor profiles and organizing historical animal records. Other duties include reminding conservation grant recipients and research principal investigators about program deadlines and reporting obligations and managing and organizing photographic, video, and publication/materials related to and generated by field conservation and scientific research projects. The position will assist in planning and preparing resources for special events, meetings, presentations, and other activities related to increasing awareness of Zoo conservation activities and animal programs. The position will work closely with the Animal Care and Conservation Coordinator.

Qualifications

  • Able to maintain appropriate employee appearance (see uniform guidelines in the employee handbook).
  • Ability to balance multiple assignments successfully.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Subject to BMV check.
  • Pursuing BA/BS or previous work-related experience in office management, meeting and event management, communication, or natural sciences preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability and comfort with using computer technology, including but not limited to: MS Office 365, Internet, database management, along with software to design tables, graphs, and flow charts.
  • Able to maintain courteous and helpful behavior and work without direct supervision.
Hours: A minimum of 20 hours/week, Mon-Fri
