Analytical Chemist II

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Analytical Chemist II are:

• Assist with troubleshooting analytical instrumentation;
• Actively participate in Site and Central Lab safety programs;
• Communicates with internal and external customers to communicate project status and sample results;
• Develop and document methods to characterize various active ingredients, intermediates, contaminants, and impurities using a variety of chromatographic, spectrophotometric, and physical methods;
• Research and introduce new technologies and methodologies to include other analyses of interest in complex matrices;
• Understand and seek out opportunities for optimization and efficiency improvements;
• Accurately record, calculate, and report analytical results meeting both ISO and Good Laboratory Practice standards. Maintain accurate records;
• Perform non-routine instrumental analyses using DSC, FTIR, and other techniques noted above with minimal supervision;
• Understand and operates LIMS, laboratory data acquisition system, and other instrument-specific computer systems;
• Reduce analytical variability in the Central Lab by continually updating and improving existing methodology;
• Work with Bayer’s Global Analytical Community in support of global quality initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Minimum of 10 years directly applicable laboratory experience (Individuals with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and at least four years laboratory experience OR master's degree in Chemistry will also be considered.)

• Be proficient in Microsoft Office Programs;
• Strong skills in oral/written communication, time, task, and project management, priority setting and decision making;
• Self-motivated to identify and promote new ideas to improve team and areas performance.
• Ability to interact, and work with, all levels of team and leadership to meet business deliverables;
• Identify, manage, and champion change;
• Promote flexibility to meet business objectives;
