Ammonia Refrigeration Technician

White Castle Distributing, LLC - Vandalia, OH

Non-Exempt

1st Shift: 6:00am - 2:30pm, 2nd Shift: 2:00pm – 10:30pm

(Hours and scheduled days may vary)

The Ammonia Refrigeration Techician manages the NH3 refrigeration system, maintains compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations relating to this system, and is the point person to troubleshoot and maintain the system in its entirety.

What we are looking for:

• Perform mechanical functions in a thoughtful and safe manner.
• High School Diploma or GED required;
• Possess a working knowledge of ammonia refrigeration system (both theory and applied);
• Be highly organized and able to systematically develop solutions to problems while following PSM/RMP procedures and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) procedures;
• Have a full understanding and formal training in Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management programs (RMP), and how to apply both to a working system;

What you will do:

• Work in conjunction with Facility Manager and OEM suppliers to develop solutions and make decisions affecting the system;
• Communicate and train plant team members on safe practices when working around an ammonia refrigeration system;
• Supervise 3rd party maintenance requiring system entry;
• Update and maintain all documentation related to the PSM/RMP program.
• Inspect the system in its entirety according to established inspection schedule;
• Coordinate with outside agencies for knowledge, interventions, and solutions;
• Coordinate improvements or repairs to the system;
• Monitor the system continually via computerized monitoring system and record all pertinent data;

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to wear personal protective equipment.
• Must be able to work around NH3 ammonia;
• Must be able to walk the majority of the time and able to bend, sit, stoop, climb, and crawl. Positon can be physically demanding at times;
• Must be able to lift 75 lbs;
