Salary


  • Maximum: $56,498.00
  • Minimum: $37,752.00


Applicants meeting the minimum experience and training requirements will start at $37,752 and have their pay advanced to $39,468 after being granted Class A certification by the State of Missouri. Applicants with a Class A certification from the State of Missouri will be paid an annual salary of $39,468. Proof of completion of P.O.S.T. certified training program (minimum of 600 hours) and Class A certification by the State of Missouri must be submitted upon request of the Department of Personnel.


This position is selected for the Hiring Incentive Program. The incentive shall be in the amount of one thousand five hundred dollars ($1500.00). The hiring incentive will be paid (if funds are available) by the Department/Division which appoints the applicant. The hiring incentive is not available to current City employees.


Position Specifications


Incumbents in this position enforce local, state and federal laws and FAA regulations at St. Louis Lambert International Airport. Duties include patrolling assigned areas, making arrests, conducting investigations and appearing in court as needed. Positions require shift, weekend and holiday assignments. Candidates must provide their availability for shift and weekend assignments on the Availability section of the Employment Application.

Minimum Qualifications


A high school diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D.) certificate.


Age: Due to Federal and State regulations, applicants must be at least 21 years of age at the time of filing application.


Certification/Deputization: Must be certified as a Police Officer by the State of Missouri and deputized as a Police Officer by St. Louis County, Missouri by completion of the working test period.


License: Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing application and be able to present it at upon request. Please note type of license, number, class and expiration date on the Employment Application.


When completing the Employment History and the Educational/Training History sections of the Employment Application, please be as thorough as possible when describing your education, training and experience relating to this position. Your employment experience and training will be used to determine whether you meet the entrance requirements for this position and to compute your experience and training evaluation. Applicants will only receive credit for their experience, training and education as shown on the application. Resumes will not be accepted as a substitute to a fully completed application. When completing the Employment History section of the application, include reasons for changes in employers and explain any gaps in employment. Incomplete and/or carelessly completed applications will not be considered.


MEDICAL: Candidates will be required to pass an oral swab "Drug Screen" as part of the Medical examination.


VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of their DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or upon request. The Director of Personnel may, in their discretion, accept alternate documentation.


CITY RESIDENTS PREFERENCE POINTS: City residents who pass an examination for a position in the classified service and do not receive any other preference will receive a five (5) point preference on a scale of 100 points on the exam. An additional one (1) point shall be added to the passing score of City residents who receive any other preference on a scale of 100 points. City residents must have resided in the City for at least one (1) year at the time of filing their application to be eligible for the preference points.


Employees assigned to St. Louis Lambert International Airport may be eligible for a commuting allowance of $141.00 bi-weekly. A ten-year background investigation will be conducted in accordance with FAA regulations for positions at St. Louis Lambert International Airport.
