The Role

We are seeking a Advisory Consultant/Engineer within our Global Professional Services organization based in Houston, TX. Primary responsibility is to provide consulting services to customers within our supply chain team delivering solutions from AspenTech’s planning and scheduling software to our global refining and chemicals customers. This is a unique position for an exceptional Engineer to work on project implementation, working closely with customers using our suite of supply chain solutions and the Engineer’s extensive knowledge of the supply chain management industry-specific process. The Advisory Consultant Engineer will execute project work from start to finish and occasionally travel to customer locations as needed. Travel for projects could be outside of the US

Your Impact

• Formulating business processes to support the systems based on industry best practices.
• Gathering customer requirements and translating those into high-level solution designs for Aspen supply chain suite of products.
• Participation in commercial proposal development and testing of software upgrades.
• Ability to effectively be the technical lead in projects.
• Able to articulate the value our SCM suites offers for current customers.
• Working with clients to implement the systems.
• Be confident, capable, and ability to play a proactive role, a leading role on projects. Demonstrate collaboration with AspenTech Project Manager, involving technical to non-technical aspects of the project.
• Ability to effectively be the technical lead in projects, leading and coaching Jr consultants.
• Provide training as needed to a customer or facilitate formal training classes.
• Commissioning the completed systems, which may require on-site monitoring and analysis.
• Building, updating, troubleshooting, running, and interpreting planning and scheduling models for plants.
• Deliver technical documents such as Functional Specifications, Detailed Design Documents, as well as Site Acceptance Test Documents.

What You'll Need

• Appreciate complexity and relish troubleshooting and solving problems for AspenTech customers
• Experience with systems integration is a nice-to-have
• Linear and integer programming modeling expertise is a plus
• Technical programming Java, Python, C++ background is a plus
• Ability to travel (25% travel on a calendar basis)
• Must have demonstrated leadership capabilities in previous endeavors
• 15+ years of work or graduate programs experience implementing supply chain systems in the process industry
• Experience with Aspen Technology Supply Chain software is big plus
• Experience with working with MS SQL Server or other databases will be useful
• Experience with implementation of planning and scheduling models for Petroleum/Chemical/PetroChem plants using AspenTech SCM suit or other equivalent solutions
• Process and economic understanding and experience in the Petroleum/Chemical business
• Fluent in English, written and verbal. Bi-lingual skills are a plus
• Excellent customer relations, communication, and presentation skills
