Job Description

This position reports to the Immunizations Program Manager and serves as the regions subject matter expert on vaccine recommendations and regularly assesses the educational needs of region 6/5S. This position plans, develops, and provides routine educational, consultative, and technical assistance to program staff, governmental agencies and community organizations. Actively recruits adult healthcare providers to participate in the Adult Safety Net (ASN) program and ImmTrac2/IIS. Conducts yearly site visits on ASN providers. Share federal, state, and /or local adult vaccination coverage data, IIS data. Conduct activities to expand awareness and implementation of the Standards for Adult Immunization practice. This position conducts training and serves as a resource for all ASN providers, including PHR/LHD staff, and the general public. Reviews and prepares program reports and provides education/technical assistance to healthcare and local health department staff on provider vaccine ordering. Participates in community-based coalitions/collaborations focused on adult populations to increase immunization rates.
Essential Job Functions
(30%) EDUCATION
Assess the educational needs of Region 6/5S and identifies adult populations for outreach and education on the importance of immunizations. May develop and deliver presentations to the target population and/or community stakeholders on the Adult Safety Net program. Provides training and guidance to healthcare providers on influenza and other vaccine-preventable diseases, vaccines specific to adult populations, vaccine schedules, vaccine recommendations, and vaccine loss. Confers with providers regarding the use of standing orders, reminder/recall, and other evidence-based strategies to improve vaccine uptake among adults.
(25%) INTERAGENCY COLLABORATION
Works with the Austin Central Office to implement the Adult Safety Net (ASN) provider recruitment plan. Monitors the ASN provider recruitment plan by working with program staff, and local health departments/districts to identify areas of need. Maintains the database of enrolled and potential providers that are provided by the central office. Produces and reviews quarterly reports.
(20%) PARTNERSHIP
Establishes and develops working relationships with community partners, healthcare providers, local health departments, and other local/state agencies. Attends collaboration/coalition meetings, providing technical assistance and direction. May assist or lead the planning and implementation of special immunization clinics for adolescents and adult groups within the community. Works with preparedness programs to assure preparedness. When recruitment list is received, make at least 2 contacts to potentially viable providers within 6 months of receipt in assigned counties.
(15%) QUALITY ASSESSMENT
Conducts yearly site visits on all Adult Safety Net providers in region 6/5S utilizing the site visit tool provided. Explains and implements requirements to providers, answers questions, and clarifies issues. Works with all TVFC and ASN providers to provide education and assistance and resolve provider issues. Visits each provider office in assigned counties at least six times per year and on a monthly basis electronically submits to the team lead the Excel report that tracks visits. Conducts monthly Quality Assurance checks on ASN providers and local health departments as assigned. Review monthly ASN provider vaccine usage reports and temperature recording logs for completeness and accuracy prior to vaccine order approval and processing.
(10%) OTHER DUTIES
Assists with other duties assigned. Employee maintains an acceptable driving record that meets the standards developed by the Texas Department of Public Safety. Completes all routine DSHS reporting/training in a timely manner. Self-initiate and/or arrange; when requested, training to small groups or classes in the community on adolescent and/or adult immunization recommendations or requirements.
Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency’s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.

Registration Or Licensure Requirements
Must possess a valid Class C Texas Drivers License
Initial Selection Criteria
Experience using computer software and databases required
Experience With Immunization Programs Preferred
Public health experience preferred
Minimum of two-year associate degree from an accredited college or university in public health, science or a closely related field required
Bachelor's degree in public health or related field preferred
