Job Description
  • POSITION SUMMARY
  • Gathers and documents demographic and financial data on patients
  • PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Gathers, verifies, and enters demographic and financial data on patients registered.
  • Checks insurance eligibility through E-Verify
  • Insures that the MSPQ is completed on all Medicare patients.
  • Practices infection control through adherence to department and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Participates in Admissions Quality Management Program.
  • Receives, logs, and secures valuables.
  • Provides Medicaid Injury form to Medicaid patients being treated in the Emergency Department for injuries.
  • Prints labels and ID bracelets and distributes with admission forms.
  • Obtains information in reference to religious preference and affiliation.
  • Prepares Workers’ Compensation form for work related injuries.
  • Obtains consents, assignment of benefits, and releases.
  • Provides patients with information required by federal mandates, i.e., Patient Rights and Responsibilities, Advance Care Directives, and important messages from Medicare/Champus.
  • Initiates inquiries and ensures receipt of pre-certification and pre-authorization for services.
  • Practices safe transport of patients.
  • Participates in appropriate role in disasters, fire drills, fires and other emergency situations.
  • Scans insurance cards as required.
  • Receives and provides shift report at beginning and end of shifts.

  • Ability to interact with physicians and their staff and participate as a team member with individuals inside and outside the department.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and respond appropriately to unexpected situations.
