Job Description
Job Summary:


Maintains records of prospective clients and handles inquiries and referrals for placement in facility. Position is responsible for admission process for all new residents.


Qualifications:


  • Must meet all local health regulations
  • Must be able to maintain regular attendance
  • Knowledgeable of or willing to learn reimbursement programs from various payer sources preferred
  • Related experience at a level necessary to accomplish this job
  • Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents and families and to work cooperatively with other employees
  • Must possess knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures pertaining to facility operation


Essential Job Functions:


Administrative:


  • Will assist in establishing policies and procedures pertaining to admission procedures
  • Participates in Quality Assessment and Assurance and other committees as assigned
  • Will request appropriate copies of insurance cards at the time of admission
  • Have a strong working knowledge of managed care referral process
  • Maintain close working relationship with Administrator, DON and Business Office Manager to assure appropriate and efficient decisions about prospective admissions
  • Will obtain necessary admission information and assure that all admission forms are completed properly and appropriately filed in the medical record with copies given to Director of Medical Records
  • Complete Medicare Secondary paperwork upon admission
  • Alert appropriate staff of projected changes i.e. admissions, bed changes, etc.
  • On call as needed for admissions
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Federal and State regulations and reimbursement process.
  • Will handle telephone, computer and personal admission inquiries and referrals, and keep a file on prospective admissions
  • Initiates discharge plans by inquiring if here for short term rehab-to-home or long term care


Communication Skills:


  • Demonstrates warm, professional working relationship with residents, family members, visitors , coworkers and volunteers.
