The Research Administrator for the Department of Oral Health Sciences, under the direction of the Department Chair, will be responsible for the day-to-day administrative operations of the department and resolving varied problems under minimal supervision and within established policies and procedures. Primary responsibilities will be to support didactic courses including preparing and managing Canvas sites; formatting and assembling syllabi; process purchases for all research laboratories/faculty in TUMarketplace, process faculty reimbursements/help book travel via Concur, process students reimbursements via Student Financial Services, assists in the submission of IRB proposals in the InfoEd system, managing and preparing memorandums outlining and explaining administrative procedures and policies; providing Examsoft support for department courses; arranging programs, events, or conferences including arranging for facilities, catering, issuing information or invitations, coordinating speakers, controlling event budgets etc., coordinating and implementing the senior and junior dental student outreach programs and the practice management rotations for senior dental students including tracking student attendance, and working closely with the community outreach sites to set and maintain student schedules and rotations at each location. Additionally, the Administrator will also assist the Director of the Biostatistics Core to coordinate data analysis requests from Postgraduate Residents, generate basic descriptive statistics or process data management requests, and will assist the Chair in the Public Health Residency Program including scheduling interviews, processing admissions letters, scheduling rooms, and assists in preparing ERA submissions and coordinating grants activities for OHS. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong analysis skills and ability to collect, analyze and report on data.
  • Must have good command of statistical package software such as SPSS.
  • Must be able to work with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and other external contacts.
  • Must have great attention to detail and sound judgments.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent customer services skills with the demonstrated ability to calmly handle various complaints, problems, and questions.
  • Experience facilitating public meetings and other public forums.
  • Must possess a professional demeanor.
  • Work effectively with Director / designee, and other team members to articulate project goals, issues and timelines.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and make independent decisions for non-complex issues.

Preferred:

  • Master’s in public health or another related field.
  • Previous experience working with dental or other health sciences related students including experience or advanced training in Dental Public Health and data management and analysis.

This is a grant funded position.
