NOAA’s National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is responsible for the conservation and management of our Nation’s living marine resources and their habitats. By developing high quality science and supporting an ecosystem-based approach to management, NMFS provides important services to the Nation, including sustainable fisheries, healthy ecosystems, safe seafood, and protected species recovery.


The NMFS Office of the Assistant Administrator oversees all regulatory actions, the science that supports management, and agency operations. The mission of NFMS is coordinated through a team of liaisons


The Office of Aquaculture focuses on several distinct priority areas including regulation and policy, science and research, outreach and education, and international activities. NOAA's aquaculture work is supported by mandates including aquaculture policies, Administration priorities, and legislative mandates that charge NOAA with ensuring that U.S. marine aquaculture develops sustainably, in concert with healthy, productive, and resilient coastal ecosystems.


  • Plan, prioritize and schedule meetings and appointments for the Assistant Administrator, Deputy Assistant Administrators and other management.
  • Respond to and initiate inquiries, explain policies, answer questions, and independently resolve problems whenever feasible.
  • Prepare presentation materials for use by others, editing content and25 adding appropriate graphic and design elements using Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Works with IT helpdesk in preparation for hybrid (Google meets/In person) meetings
  • Operate conference room audiovisual and information technology equipment to display presentation material and ensure all meeting participants are visible and audible
  • Perform specialized administrative duties required to support the specific program area, using discretion to make judgments based on operating guidelines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles, practices and procedures in administration and office management.
  • Arrange and coordinate travel and travel reimbursement for staff including voucher and reimbursement data for AA and DAA Credit card reconciliation
  • Perform basic statistical calculations on data for reports and presentations.


Approximately 8 years of experience relevant to the tasks outlined above.


  • Able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 1 Public Trust background investigation.
  • Strong Communication skills, both oral and written


Associates Degree or equivalent


2 Additional Year's Experience Required To Subsitute Associates Degree
