SALARY: The salary range for this position is $54,602.64 to $88,562.53 for Schedule A, and $54,602.64 to $84,134.41 for Schedule B. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater.Judiciary employees hired prior to June 3, 2014, are considered Schedule A. Newly hired individuals, and Judiciary employees hired on or after June 3, 2014, are considered Schedule B.

The Supreme Court of New Jersey, Office of the Clerk, is seeking a detail-oriented person with strong administrative, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills to assist with the professional administration of the Legal, Disciplinary, and Committee Support Unit within the Office of the Clerk and to provide direct support to the Deputy Clerk of the Supreme Court (Court Executive 3b). The individual must be able to communicate clearly and confidently in conveying information to members of the Court, attorneys, judges, members of the public, representatives of other jurisdictions, and management and staff of other Judiciary units on topics that include: individual attorney status and eligibility to practice; status of Supreme Court disciplinary proceedings; case filing requirements; and policies and procedures applicable to attorney and judicial discipline.


The individual will manage a Supreme Court caseload of attorney and judicial disciplinary matters from initial evaluation and intake in an electronic case management system through filing of dispositional Orders and reporting of disciplinary-related action to applicable persons and authorities. The person will undertake such other assignments as directed by the Clerk, Deputy Clerk or the Court.


REMOTE WORK : The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, you will be required to have high speed home internet access.


Example of Duties


  • Suggest, document, and test modifications and enhancements to the Supreme Court case management system, particularly in respect of electronic interfaces with other attorney and judicial regulatory bodies and courts.
  • Perform related duties, as required.
  • Interpret and apply disciplinary and appellate court rules, statutes, and other regulatory standards.
  • Provide accurate, nuanced, and timely guidance to attorneys, judges, disciplinary parties, and lay persons regarding disciplinary matters.
  • Inform parties of noted deficiencies in Court submissions and monitor for correction of deficiencies.
  • Draft, file, and distribute more complex interim and final Supreme Court attorney and judicial disciplinary orders as directed by the Deputy Clerk or pursuant to applicable administrative procedures of the Court.
  • Prepare statistical and narrative reports for use by the Clerk, Deputy Clerk, other managers, and the Court.
  • Manage a caseload of attorney and judicial disciplinary matters in web-based case management system.
  • Docket case-related submissions after review and analysis for appropriate designation and treatment, including impounding as confidential.
  • Communicate with justices, judges, attorneys, disciplinary grievants, and disciplinary authorities from other jurisdictions orally and in writing.


Qualifications


Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree and three years of professional experience in program development, program coordination, program analysis, program administration and/or administrative research.


Substitution: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional paraprofessional and/or professional experience on a year-for-year basis with one year of such experience being equal to 30 semester hour credits. An associate's degree and two years of additional paraprofessional and/or professional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree. A master's degree may be substituted for one year of experience. A law degree may be substituted for two years of experience.

Supplemental Information


Driver's License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.


Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.
