JOB OVERVIEW

The Doctoral Program within the School of Education is accepting applications for adjunct instructors with expertise in Educational Leadership and Management. Areas of specialization include organizational leadership and educational research. Selected candidates will join a pool of adjunct faculty who will serve on an ad-hoc basis to teach classes in-person (day or evening), hybrid, or online. Adjunct instructors are hired on a term-by-term basis. Applications are accepted on a continuous basis and will be reviewed when openings become available.

Drexel University's EdD in Educational Leadership and Management is a doctoral program designed to prepare scholarly practitioners for leadership positions in a wide variety of contexts, including early childhood, PK-12 education, higher education, non-profit and for-profit organizations, government agencies, and other organizations. EdD students are largely working professionals seeking to solve problems of practice in their contexts.

The School of Education develops leaders with the expertise to collaborate and solve complex problems related to transforming institutions and educating diverse populations impacted by domestic and global challenges. The School of Education has 1,300 students, 48 faculty, two departments, and 14 core areas that offer a suite of certificate, certification, and degree programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The successful candidate will be expected to teach online graduate courses, advise students, work collegially with other faculty, and have a background in leadership, systems change, organizational development, or educational research.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Teaching graduate courses online in the areas of educational leadership or educational research.
  • Advising and mentoring doctoral students.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, public/private colleges, as well as regional, state, and national education agencies/professional organizations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • An earned doctorate or terminal degree in early childhood, K-12 education, higher education, human resource development, or closely related field.
  • Major specialization in one or more of the following areas:
    • Leadership to support social justice, equity, diversity, and a culture of success;
    • Educational research, including qualitative, quantitative, and/or mixed methods
  • Commitment to serving a culturally and ethnically diverse student body.
  • A record of excellence in teaching, research, service, and professional participation.
