Description

Spokane Public Schools is accepting applications for an Activities/Athletics Program Manager. The Activities/Athletics Program Manager is responsible for expanding community connected athletic and activity opportunities for Spokane Schools students. The Program Manager also provides clear direction, leadership, and support to the District’s Extracurricular programs, while working closely with the Director of Athletics, Fitness, and After School Programs.

SALARY RANGE: $83,081 - $99,202

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and partner to lead District Unified Sports opportunities.
  • Facilitate, plan and lead all aspects of key community athletics/activities engagement events in partnership with Director of Athletics, School Directors, and SPS departments.
  • Work within a flexible schedule that includes nights and weekends as needed.
  • Ensure program effectiveness through evaluation of quantitative and qualitative program analytics.
  • Represent SPS on various committees and community events.
  • Engage with community leaders, volunteers, youth and adults to create and grow opportunities for students and programs to expand access to athletics and activities.
  • Connect/Link SPS Students to community athletic opportunities, coordinating SPS leadership and internal systems/departments.
  • Collaborate around program goals and initiatives within the Fitness/Athletics/After School Programs department.
  • Coordinate staff, coaches, athletics leadership, youth leaders, partnerships, events, data reporting, policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Develop, implement, and lead (in partnership with the Director of Athletics) SPS Summer Activity/Athletics programming.
  • Oversee the connection between community-based athletic/activity organizations and Spokane Public Schools.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders (including schools, teachers, students, coaches, civic leaders) in the community to expand offerings and partnerships.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned within the Athletics/Fitness/After School Programs Department.
  • Assist in the facilitation and planning of Professional Development and support for Athletic coaches and Activity leads.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in Athletics organization.
  • Demonstrated skills in use of digital organizational and communication resources.
  • Flexible availability nights and weekends and throughout the summer.
  • Knowledge and application of various technical systems and skills.
  • Demonstrated ability and aptitude to perform the responsibilities listed above.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive, effective working relationships with diverse groups of students, parents, community stakeholders, and SPS staff.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred in related field; or a minimum of five year’s experience in athletics management/leadership, community partnership work, and/or combination of both.
  • Relate positively to youth and adults of varying socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and present information in small and large group settings, as well as in virtual settings.
