Accounts Payable Systems Project Manager
Summary:
  • This role will provide business and application support to the Accounts Payable Department. The incumbent will serve as an AP Project Manager, as well as a subject matter expert for the department, who will gather and assess business requirements and assist with translating them into solutions.
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Review existing processes and system with a focus on simplifying, standardizing, and automating them for efficiency.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Performs in-depth business and system analysis of Accounts Payable and recommends changes in policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency or maximize the utilization of NJ TRANSIT’s Accounts Payable system.
  • Adapt to changing conditions and modify project execution plans as appropriate while managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Documents existing workflows for the Accounts Payable department, develops workflow changes required to complete the implementation of systems, and identifies problem areas, i.e., staffing needs, critical areas requiring close coordination, uneven workload, etc.
  • Coordinate with IT, outside consultants and the various user departments on the implementation of major system developments and upgrades.
  • Build relationships and work collaboratively with stakeholders across the organization to analyze and translate business needs into technology requirements, and report on project statuses.
  • Prepare and develop detailed project plans, while documenting business requirements, functional specifications, test plans, workflow, and data requirements.
  • Assist in knowledge sharing of best practices and process through creation of guides and documentation.
  • Provides interdepartmental financial support, Ad Hoc reporting, data analysis and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Identifies user requirements, develops specifications and implementation plans for enhancements and modifications to the Accounts Payable system. Maintains communications with Directors and Managers to review user needs and problems; identifies and defines potential solutions.
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
  • Bachelors' degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or related area, and five years of applied experience in the development and implementation of automated financial systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects from conception to completion
  • Organizational and documentation skills
  • Understanding of Accounting Principles
  • Oracle AP Experience is preferred
  • Accounts Payable systems experience
  • Demonstrates initiative and takes ownership of work
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and other MS applications
