Who You Are:


The Accounting Manager is a well-rounded and strong business leader with demonstrated experience in building successful teams and driving business results. This is a hands-on role that requires a self-starter mentality and positive attitude. The candidate will possess strategic-thinking capability while being comfortable and willing to work in the details. Additionally, the candidate will possess broad experience across Finance and be committed to a high degree of quality, accuracy, and completeness while consistently meeting deadlines. The Accounting Manager is both an individual contributor and a strong leader and coach that will help take our department and organization to a higher level.


What You'll Do:


  • Serve as a strong business partner to other departments and business leaders outside of Finance.
  • Partner with and support the Controller on several recurring activities including monthly closing, financial reporting, account reconciliations, intercompany accounting, and travel & entertainment expenses. Serve as a back-up to the Controller in these capacities.
  • Perform any other duties needed to help drive our Vision, fulfill our Mission, and abide by our Core Values.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Support activities related to corporate, state, and sales & use tax fillings to ensure accurate and timely compliance.
  • Provide support to general accounting, procurement, treasury, and FP&A activities.
  • Candidate’s primary areas of focus include day-to-day management of Order Entry, Billing, Credit & Collections, Accounts Payable, and Tax.
  • Partner with and support the VP of Finance on a variety of ad-hoc projects & initiatives.
  • Drive efficiency, accuracy, and optimization with processes & tools to enable more time for value-added activities and strategic initiatives. Partner with IT/Business Systems to evaluate and execute.


Supervisory Responsibilities:


  • Manage 4-6 direct reports across various functions within Finance.
  • Motivates and engages team members while providing clear direction and advice.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff.
  • Candidate will oversee the daily workflow of the teams they are responsible for.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

  • Proven business partnering skills with demonstrated ability to influence decision making and financial health.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess the highest level of integrity and ethics.
  • Prior experience with internal control requirements and best practices.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with ERP systems (Sage 300 preferred but not required).
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (both verbal and written) at all levels of the organization.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to understand the big picture but work effectively in the details.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency such as pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and other complex formulas.
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment with minimal supervision.



Preferred Skills / Abilities (Nice-to-haves):


  • Experience in a software and services (SaaS) company (automotive industry a plus)
  • Financial planning, analysis, modeling, and budgeting experience.


Education and Experience:


  • 7-10+ years of experience in progressive Finance roles
  • Prior audit experience within a public accounting firm
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - Preferred
  • Strong knowledge of revenue accounting standards (ASC 606)
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Experiencing leading and coaching a team


Physical Requirements:


  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
