We are looking for an account services specialist to execute procedures to reduce the amount of unpaid resident charges the company incurs. You will also be responsible for negotiating extensions with residents or write-off debt to minimize the company’s potential loss of income.


To be successful in this role, you should be analytical and have great report-writing skills. Ultimately, a top-notch collections manager should have extensive knowledge of collection laws, and continuously find ways to improve the company’s debt recovery.


Responsibilities


  • Respond to inquiries from customers providing quality and accurate responses managing and resolving resident needs
  • Supporting residents while ensuring collection policies and procedures to avoid excessive outstanding credit, are being adhered to
  • Ensuring that the company policy on recoveries is followed and that it is in line with state and federal regulations
  • Creating and implementing a strategy to improve the collection of outstanding credit
  • Research required information using multiple systems and resources
  • Remaining informed of any legislative procedural training regarding debt collection
  • Assisting residents with invoicing and payment collection
  • Ensuring the accurate and timely invoicing of customers
  • Negotiating with customers in cases when non-payment occurs
Requirements


  • The ability to work accurately and independently
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines
  • Experience with accounting software and advanced knowledge of MS Excel
  • Strong time and people management skills
  • Outstanding leadership and managerial skills
  • Excellent Customer Service skills
  • Excellent analytical skills and an eye for detail
  • 3–5 years’ experience as a collector or similar role
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
