Title: Academic Leadership Coach
Department: Office of Catholic Schools (“OCS”)
Reports To: Deputy Superintendent for Academics
FLSA Status: Full-time
Start Date: July 1, 2023
Position Summary:
The Academic Leadership Coach develops and implements interventions and supports to principals and teachers for a designated portfolio of schools to improve instructional leadership skills, teaching, and learning. The Academic Leadership Coach will increase educator understanding of Catholic school mission, OCS root beliefs, instructional practices related to the system-wide goals, and data-driven instruction. The Academic Leadership Coach works collaboratively with principals on common areas of concern related to academic leadership, teaching, and learning. The Academic Leadership Coach actively supports, demonstrates, and models a passion for the Catholic school mission, education, and leadership.
Responsibilities:
· Grow principal capacity to:
o Prioritize teaching and learning in a Catholic school culture
o Develop clear, measurable, and attainable academic goals, aligned to system-wide goals, utilizing current student achievement data
o Use of student achievement data to improve instruction
o Grow teacher capacity to improve classroom culture, content mastery, and academic rigor for all students
· Be a collaborative member of the OCS Academic Team to grow the leadership capacity of all principals and improve student outcomes at all schools.
· Participates in the Principal Growth Cycle for a portfolio of principals, in coordination with the Regional Director and the local pastor.
· Support principals to ensure teacher instruction reflects understanding Catholic mission and core values and is consistent with Catholic doctrine and the social and moral teachings of the Catholic Church in the Catholic School.
Requirements:
· Master’s Degree in Education is required. Doctorate in educational leadership or curriculum and instruction is preferred.
· At least five years full-time teaching experience and experience in school administration.
· Proven ability in using student-level data to guide instructional decisions.
· Proven expertise and experience in instructional effectiveness.
· Valid license as a principal and/or superintendent issued by the Illinois State Board of Education.
· Valid Illinois driver’s license and reliable transportation.
