Job Description

Pay Grade/Pay Range: $24.68/hr

Department/Organization: 504106 - Refrigeration & Air Conditioning

Normal Work Schedule: 7:30-4

Job Summary: This position assists in the operation, maintenance and repair of commercial and industrial cooling, heating and refrigeration equipment to include water chillers, cooling towers, pumps, lab equipment, ventilation, air distribution systems and associated controls. Makes routine inspections; interprets plans and blueprints. Must drive from site to site.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions and a minimum of two years experience in the construction trade with at least one year in the field of A/C Refrigeration or the completion of trade or vocational school in this skilled crafted area. Requires universal certification requirements for handling, recovering and reclaiming Freon. Must be able to lift, handle and maneuver the tools, materials and supplies of the job. Must be able to perform those items in the Job Summary and the essential functions. Must have the ability to use job-related tools and equipment and chemical supplies. Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Final candidates who are not current University of Alabama employees must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications: Prefer High School diploma or GED
