Title: ABA Therapist

Hourly Rate: $22-$31 per hour
Pay Frequency: Biweekly
Reports To: LBA Case Supervisor

Position Summary

ABA Therapists (also known as Behavior Technicians, or Registered Behavior Technicians or RBTs) are responsible for providing one-on-one mental health services based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to children and adolescents on the Autism Spectrum in order to improve their behaviors across settings. ABA Therapists/RBTs work under the supervision and guidance of a New York Licensed Behavior Analyst (NY-LBA) in concert with teachers, parents, guardians, families, counselors, and other professionals to implement a client’s prescribed treatment plan and transfer skills to the client's primary caregivers.

Position Responsibilities

  • Collect behavioral data as directed by the LBA/BCBA using data collection software on company-issued device
  • Complete and submit appropriate, accurate clinical notes per each session in a timely manner according to agency policy
  • Provide direct ABA therapy in home, school, and community settings
  • Participate in ongoing in-house training and professional development on topics that include foundational ABA techniques, ableism, client dignity, and assent.
  • Develop rapport, communicate effectively, and collaborate with LBAs/Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and other professionals and/or family members involved with the client’s treatment
  • Implement treatment plans developed by Licensed Behavior Analysts (LBAs)

Position Qualifications

  • Current CPR Certification
  • Minimum of 2 years of post-secondary education in one of the following disciplines preferred: behavior science, early childhood education, special education, human services, psychology, or related field
  • A drive to learn and grow in the rewarding field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
  • 1-2 years of ABA experience is strongly preferred
  • Ability to adhere to organizational policies and procedures and abide by code of ethics as indicated by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board
  • Successful completion of NY Mandated Reporter Training
  • Ability to implement established treatment plan with integrity, including goals and activities
  • Hold a current RBT certification or complete free online training program (40 hours) to obtain RBT certification, if needed for case
  • Passion for working with children and adolescents with developmental disabilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaboratively, both written and verbal
  • Flexibility and availability during scheduled hours, which may include evenings and weekends
  • Ability to shift priorities and adjust execution of treatment plan based on feedback provided by LBA
  • Ability to navigate data collection software on tablet or other tech device
  • Ability to think on your feet and creatively engage clients while implementing treatment plan
  • Experience working with neurodiverse children and adolescents with developmental diagnoses is preferred
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, co-workers, supervisors, and community members
  • Commitment to maintain client confidentiality and adhere to business associate agreement and HIPAA laws

Position Conditions

  • Must be able to sit on the floor, stand for extended periods of time, lift, and carry weight, not to exceed 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work in the NYC metro area in locations of the candidate's choice in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, or other locations
  • Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures, including kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time
  • Must be physically present at the assigned job location, including homes, schools, and community placements
  • Must be willing and able to travel between different job sites
