911 dispatchers are responsible for coordinating a prompt and efficient response to requests for
POLICE, FIRE, or MEDICAL services.
Emergency 911 dispatchers have primary responsbility for the initial deployment of personnel and equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities


An emergency 911 dispatcher has primary responsbility for the initial deployment of personnel and equipment.

  • Maintain situational awareness of local, regional, state, and national emergencies and events.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and computer skills
  • Follow established procedures, employ common sense, and maintain a calm demeanor to provide aid and support to emergency personnel and ensure that messages are clear, concise, and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Utilize the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system for all dispatched activity.
  • Maintain and retrieve records, files, and infomation for prompt communication to field units and department personnel.

Additional Information
  • Highschool diploma or equivalent required
  • Candidates must have or obtain the following certifications:
• LEAPS/CJIS certification
• NG911 Equipment certification
• EMD
• APCO public safety telecommunications
  • 911 Dispatcher is a full time position
  • Candidates must successfully complete a background investigation.
  • Candidates must have excellent communication and computer skills.
