Job Description
SRI Education is committed to bringing rigorous and equitable research and evaluation data to bear on important decisions concerning supporting young children and their families and/or supporting students with disabilities (birth to post-secondary). We are seeking to hire an Education Researcher to join our team to support and lead projects and proposals focused on early childhood education and/or special education.


These positions (we plan to hire 2-3 people) have a strong preference for candidates located within commuting distance to our Arlington, VA or our Menlo Park, CA offices. While we do not require daily commuting to the office, we prefer to hire candidates who can come in on an as needed basis, or spontaneously for collaboration, team-building, and mentorship.


Job responsibilities include

  • Contribute to or lead, as appropriate, business development and proposal writing efforts
  • Candidates with the following qualifications are preferred
  • Write reports, policy papers, and articles for clients, policymakers, and practitioners
  • Prior experience generating well-structured, clear, and concise verbal and written communications on research and project activities for a broad range of audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and ensure high-quality work through attention to details and requirements
  • Apply an equity lens to and engage diverse perspectives in our work
  • Collaborate on, design, and conduct rigorous and equitable research and large-scale program evaluations related to early childhood education and/or special education
  • PhD in social sciences or related policy fields OR a similar master’s degree and 5 years related experience
  • Prior experience with multiple research methods (e.g., large-scale surveys, experimental research/group design, case study methods)
  • Prior experience providing technical assistance to state agency staff
  • Multilingual learners
  • Education Sciences, Office of Special Education Programs, or National Science Foundation
  • Mentor junior analysts on evaluation design and methodological issues
  • Equity and inclusion in education
  • Experience with analytic software (e.g., R, Stata, SAS, SPSS, Dedoose)
  • Lead and conduct analyses of extant student, teacher, and school data
  • Disability and inclusion
  • Research, professional, or volunteer experience in or with the U.S. public PreK–16 education system working with Black or African American, Latino, Latinx, or Hispanic students, or students and families with limited financial means
  • Prior experience working on projects for federal agencies and organizations like the Administration for Children and Families, Institute for
  • Expertise and experience in one or more of the following areas Early learning
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in research and the workplace
  • Design quantitative and qualitative studies and data collection instruments that examine implementation, impact, and cost
  • Develop and lead, as appropriate, analyses of student, teacher, and school data
  • Capacity to support multiple projects simultaneously and change focus as priorities shift through use of strong organizational skills
  • Participate in and lead, as appropriate, mixed-methods data collection and analysis


The pay range is $52.88/hr.
