JOB TITLE


Homeowner Assistance Fund (HAF) Foreclosure Mitigation Underwriter (1 vacancy)


ANNUAL SALARY RANGE


$40,687 to $65,200


PLEASE NOTE:


This is a grant-funded position through September 2025 unless the U.S. Department of the Treasury extends funding.


The position is eligible for full OHFA benefits.


Employment is at-will.


Summary


Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations for the Homeowner Assistance Fund program preforming the underwriting of mortgage loans with regards to mortgage foreclosure, mortgage defaults, loss mitigation and including applications of rules and guidelines of mortgage lending with FHA, VA or Conventional and ensure compliance with the US Treasury guidelines for the HAF program.


Essential Duties And Responsibilities


PROGRAM KNOWLEDGE


Responsible for obtaining and maintaining knowledge of GSE (Government Sponsored Entities) guidelines – FHA, VA, USDA-RD, Conventional and US Treasury guides for HAF.


PROGRAM DUTIES


Manages and technically assist with HAF software system by reviewing compliance documents from a shared software and attaches documents to the files.


Ensuring that loans assigned are underwritten in accordance with the Treasury guidelines for HAF and OHAF program guides, regulations, guidelines, handbooks, and policies, including observing the deadlines and reviewing the underwriting of OHAF program applications.


  • Assemble and compile documents for payment of HAF assistance, such as mortgage payoff statements, homeowner association dues, real estate taxes, insurance forms, application forms, and tax receipts.
  • Verify and examine information and accuracy of application and loan documents.
  • Submit applications with recommendation for Quality Analyst approval for payment.
  • Answer questions and advise customers regarding applications and transactions.


Provides administrative support and technical research which includes statistical reports, correspondence, and coordination of meetings and assist with training for the HAF staff.


Provides technical assistance for implementation of program procedures, US Treasury compliance and FHA, VA and Conventional guidelines for applicable Homeowner Assistance Fund program interested parties such as lenders, realtor, lending underwriters, processors and/or customers


Updates program information for HAF and supplies reports from HAF Software.


Provide information and assist the HAF Director with program development and/or problems.


Responsible for whatever needs to be done to enhance the overall operations of the Agency on a day-to-day basis


Responsible for delivering exceptional customer service to all external and internal customers by being polite and helpful at all times.


PROGRAM TRAINING


Assist management in providing training participates and staff on technical lending issue, US Treasury HAF


Attend Public Hearing as required.


EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE


Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university; or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Two year related Experienced and/or training in Real Estate lending practices and Government entities such as FHA, VA, USDA-RD and Conventional.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS


Current and valid state issue identification. Must be bondable.


This is not a remote or telework position.


NOTE: Applicant will be required to pass a drug-screening test and criminal background check. Some positions may require a motor vehicle check as a condition of employment.
