Wildland Fire Suppression Specialist - (Entry/underfill option below)
$3259.00 – $4893.00, Monthly plus benefits
  • To Qualify: Applicants must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record. Must have 2 years of Wildland Firefighting experience (One 3-6 month season is equivalent to 1 year of experience) and will be required to take and pass the physical fitness Work Capacity Test at the arduous level.
Underfill option - no experience necessary
$2825.00 - $4055.00, Monthly plus benefits
  • To Qualify: Applicants must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record. Will be required to take and pass the physical fitness Work Capacity Test at the arduous level.
Note: The goal of this recruitment is to fill positions at the WFSS level, however, we encourage candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for the Underfill option to apply. If we are unable to fill the WFSS positions, we will consider an underfill until the selected candidate meets WFSS minimum qualifications.
Forest Officer
$4251.00 – $6490.00, Monthly plus benefits
  • Some positions may require a valid class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • To Qualify: Must have Four (4) years in wildland fire suppression OR Bachelor's degree in forestry or closely related natural resources field AND one (1) year of wildland fire suppression. (Note: One 3-6 month season is equivalent to 1 year of experience). Applicants must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record. Will be required to take and pass the physical fitness Work Capacity Test at the arduous level. Must obtain the Class B Warden certification within the trial service period.

Your New Role – Here are some of the responsibilities for these positions. All may not apply for various positions.
General Responsibilities for Forest Officer and Wildland Fire Suppression Specialist
  • Perform fire prevention and education activities
  • Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
  • Occasionally perform forest tasks involving slash burning, pre-commercial thinning, road brushing, etc.
  • Perform forest fire suppression activities
  • Perform pre-suppression readiness activities
  • Assist with grounds and facility maintenance.
What we are looking for
Forest Officer
  • Demonstrates strong leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Ability to set goal, prioritize, organize, and accomplish assigned work.
  • Ability to enforce forestry laws, rules, and regulations to the public.
Wildland Fire Suppression Specialist
  • Experience working collaboratively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to perform in high stress, fast paced emergency situations
  • Ability to use hand tools and operate motorized equipment commonly used for wildland fire.
