Medical Scribe Transcriptionist Jobs

Knowledgeable in medical terminology and medical records.

Accompany physicians into the patient examination room to transcribe a history and physical exam.

List all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow up instructions and prescriptions as dictated by the physician.

Transcribe patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, medications, etc.

Document any procedures performed by the physician.

At least 1 year of working in a medical office, preferably oncology, hematology

Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred

High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred

Edits and transcribes reports for inclusion in the patient records. Uses department and organization databases to run reports as required.

Prepares and maintains files, keeps records and performs other routine clerical tasks, as needed.

Answers telephone, takes messages, and provides information of a routine nature. Makes appointments and serves as receptionist, as needed.

Composes and types routine correspondence.

Manage the tracking and collection of data from multiple sources prior to and during patient encounters.

Minimum of 1 year of experience in a mental health office or similar setting preferred.

Knowledge of medical terminology, charting, and recording procedures and medications preferred.

Knowledge of electronic medical records systems (AMD/Opus preferred).

Minimum of 6 months medical scribe experience (required)

Job duties include but are not limited to:

A minimum of 1 year of work experience in the healthcare field may be considered in lieu of the education requirement

Excellent organizational and time management skills

At least 100 hours of work, volunteer, or shadowing experience in the healthcare field required

Basic understanding of medical terminology and general medical knowledge

Strong communication skills, written and verbal

Excellent listening and note-taking skills

Fluent in the English language with excellent writing and speaking skills

Bachelor's Degree or 1-2 years equivalent experience in a related field required

Highly knowledgeable with medical terminology, and human anatomy

Competitive compensation ranges from $11.00 - $17.00 per hour based on location, experience, and time commitment.

Perform chart preparation per clinic protocol

Accompany the provider in all scheduled patient visits

A Medical Transcriptionist certification is preferred or experience with scribing/typing for a provider.

Minimum of one year medical record experience.

Type 40+ words per minute

Ability to operate office equipment (copier, fax machine)

Additional Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required

Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) Certification (CPOE education provided upon hire)

Manage faxing and referral process.

Experience in an Urgent Care environment preferred

Medical Assistant Certification (CCMA, CMA, NCMA or RMA.)

Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures

Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work

Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software

Medical Assistant experience preferred for Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program

One of the following certifications is required (or must obtain within 15 months of hire):

Accompanies the practitioner upon patient interview and examination and they do not interject their own observations or impressions.

Documents physical examination findings and procedures as performed by the practitioner.

Documents the results of laboratory and radiographic studies as dictated by the practitioner.

Documents the correct time of patient care related activities, including practitioner to practitioner communication, family communication and re-examination of the patient.

Prepare for and provide patient education documents, as needed. These may be from the EHR library or could be company specific.

Computer skills necessary to navigate the company’s EMR system.

Maintains records and assists with clinical paperwork (i.e., refills, orders, forms, referrals, etc).

Helps clean and maintain workstation and exam rooms.

Perform data entry and data retrieval services, providing data for inclusion in medical records and for transmission to physicians.

Knowledge of medical transcription guidelines and practices.

Excellent skills in English usage, grammar, punctuation, and style.

Proven business skills (scheduling work, purchasing, client relations, and billing).

Previous experience working in transcription, preferably within Surgery.

Excellent overall knowledge of medical terminology.
