Animal Husbandry Jobs

Work collaboratively with Husbandry Manager to meet the highest standards of animal care

Bachelor's Degree in Marine Science, Chemistry, Biology or a related field OR equivalent experience is not required but is a plus

Strong observational skills to ensure animal health and safety

Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, work under pressure, meet deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Acclimation of newly arriving animals

Preparing food and feeding animals

May assist in planning and implementing special projects, including educational programs.

Knowledgeable about variety of field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.

Relies on pre-established guidelines and experience to plan and accomplish goals.

No prior animal experience required, but must have aptitude for the care and well-being of animals.

Prepare and provide food to the chimpanzees

Clean and sanitize chimpanzee housing areas, equipment, and other related areas or materials. May use cleaning equipment.

Professional development through training and education

Complete artificial insemination and estrus detection of cows for breeding, thus AI certification is required.

Associate’s degree in agriculture. Supervisory experience.

Previous dog training experience required

Knowledge of basic dog training commands and familiar with positive reinforcement training techniques is a plus

Please explain your prior work experience directly related to working with companion animals (i.e. shelter, vet clinic, rescue, training/boarding...).

Under the direction and guidance of the Operations Manager, this position is responsible for the following activities.

Animal Intake - Respond to all intake requests in a timely and professional manner

Animal behavior and assessments (all related data-entry, uploading of documents...)

Assist in locating appropriate foster homes for AFRP program animals
