Job Description

We are seeking individuals that have a good work ethic and a desire for continuous learning. The Husbandry Aquarist, under the supervision of the Husbandry Manager, is primarily responsible for providing top-notch acclimation and husbandry practices to the aquatic animals, including observations of behavioral habits, feeding, monitoring and maintaining ideal water parameters and cleaning, organizing and maintaining holding areas. You will get hands-on training from some of the best in the field. No experience necessary but aquatic life enthusiasts are strongly encouraged to apply.


Responsibilities/Duties

  • Work independently as well as collaboratively with the Husbandry team on daily tasks and special projects
  • Acclimation of newly arriving animals
  • Ensuring workspaces, tools, and equipment are clean, organized, and functioning properly
  • Practice good judgment in decision-making as related to animal care, emergency situations, and projects, and communicate to the Husbandry Manager when their involvement is necessary
  • Treating any injured/diseased individuals as directed to; making observations and recognizing abnormal animal behavior/appearance and reporting such observations in a timely manner;
  • Work collaboratively with Husbandry Manager to meet the highest standards of animal care
  • Testing/logging water parameters and maintaining optimal conditions for the animals
  • Preparing food and feeding animals

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Positive attitude and the ability to communicate in a professional and respectful manner
  • Sound judgment and ability to use common sense for effective decision-making.
  • Strong observational skills to ensure animal health and safety
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marine Science, Chemistry, Biology or a related field OR equivalent experience is not required but is a plus
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, work under pressure, meet deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and task completion are essential
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is not required but is a plus
  • Valid driver's license is a plus
  • Willingness to perform other duties or assist other departments as needed
  • Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 20 pounds, kneel, bend, crouch, squat, and stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays as required.
