Zookeeper Educator Jobs

Assists and participates in the execution of short and long-range plans.

Ensures effective and efficient use of budgeted funds, personnel, materials, facilities and time.

Valid driver’s license equivalent to a New Mexico Class D.

Municipal organization operations, policies and procedures.

Tools, equipment, materials, and methods used in zoo and facilities maintenance.

Methods of routine plumbing, carpentry, and concrete construction work.

Completes animal welfare assessments as assigned by manager in the allotted time frameworks with team to problem solve welfare concerns.

Minimum one (1) year related experience in a zoological or wildlife facility

Strong verbal and written English skills and the ability to communicate effectively with the public. Bilingual skills a plus.

Implements effective behavioral enrichment for selected animals.

Maintains accurate feeding, health, and welfare records of assigned animals.

Exercise good judgment when making choices that affect our collection.

Plans, schedules and conducts on and off-site education programs.

Designs, develops, and utilizes on site educational graphics and displays.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast paced environment.

Experience delivering developmentally appropriate, engaging presentations to a variety of audiences

Work or volunteer experience working with children preferred.

Knowledge of animal biology and behavior, natural history topics and conservation issues.
