Technical Specialist – Water Quality Jobs

Monitors various safety equipment for required maintenance, service, certification, and recalibration.

Maintains and prepares incident reports, logs daily activities; performs data entry in various software systems in compliance with all regulatory agencies.

Prepares and submits OSHA log 300 and all year end reporting per regulatory agency requirements.

DOH and EPA reporting requirements.

Strong communication oral, written, and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, supervisor, the general public.

Accident reporting procedures and requirements.

Develop training materials to meet the needs of water operators and managers in Indiana

Research, prioritize, and follow up on current requirements specified by state agencies regarding water compliance, funding, and assistance programs

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with utilities, operators/owners, and state agencies

Work from home on days not traveling

This position willrequire travel on a routine basisto carry out job duties

Roles and Responsibilities (not all inclusive):

Possession of a bachelor's degree in the biological sciences, engineering, physical sciences, resource development, or resource management.

Grade 1 Water Distribution System Operator’s Certification OR

Grade 1 Wastewater Collection Certification

Possession of, or required to obtain within six (6) months of hire, the OSHA 40-hr Hazwoper certification.

Develops and oversees laboratory record keeping including management of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

Principles and practices of leadership, management and supervision; including program planning, implementation, and administration

The regulations and requirements pertaining to the operation of an Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (ELAP) certified laboratory.

Organizational skills to develop and coordinate efficient water quality procedures, programs and studies.

Interpersonal skills to support Departmental goals and objectives, including communication, collaboration, problem solving, critical thinking, organization, judgement and conflict resolution

Mathematical skills to develop and control effective budgets and billing procedures; to do statistical and technical analyses.

Performs analyses and proficiency tests for laboratory certification.

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a water/wastewater laboratory setting.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

Collects, preserves, transports field samples.

Performs routine and complex analyses of water samples.

Calculates and evaluates laboratory data; enters results into computer.

Monitor water quality and detect water contamination.

Document water quality and water contamination reports.

Ensure that all necessary spill, leak, and other reports are filed properly.

Ensure that EPA and state environmental regulations are followed.

Prepare and submit reports to the EPA on environmental compliance.

Educate the public about environmental conservation.

Consult consumers about water quality in their businesses and residences

Operates water line valves and fire hydrants to ensure proper water flow and improve water quality.

Operates and maintains portable chemical feed equipment to ensure proper dosage of chemical solutions.

Reviews plat cards and as-built plans.

Ensures job site is safe and equipment is operated in a safe manner while wearing all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Operate motor vehicles to drive to sampling locations throughout the water service area.

Provide technical support and management for turn-key offerings

Utilize technical knowledge and communication skills to secure and grow water quality mitigation clients for the EutroPHIX Division

Strong computer skills, with emphasis on Microsoft Office

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Excellent internal and external customer service skills

In collaboration with EutroPHIX leadership, build and execute the strategy for water quality restoration business development in Eastern US
