Maintains competency and yearly educational requirements for position.

Provides care on a functional basis to a patient or group of patients. Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

Minimum of one year of recent, direct patient care experience preferred.

Current CPR certification is required.

Assists with direct patient care procedures and related tasks under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse.

Application of clean sterile dressing

75 hours of clinical rotation in a medical arena with one (1) year healthcare experience required OR

Five (5) years of continuous phlebotomy experience

Assists with toileting i.e. bedpan, commodes, urinals, incontinence care.

Proper body mechanics for transfers/ambulation.

With at least 120 hours of clinical rotation in a medical arena OR

Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards: Works in a clean, well-lighted, heated or ventilated facility. No routine exposure to hazards.

Current CPR certification required or obtained prior to providing direct patient care

Reports to nursefor specific patient related duties. Overall supervision from manager of patient care unit

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

Must be able to read and write English

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

Certification from the Maine Department of Education with a minimum of 90 credits in approved study

A bridge to help patients who are not attending school become reintegrated into a structured, daily routine at home

Post high school study in educationally related field preferred

Support for patients who are transitioning back to the community after hospitalization

Willing and able to learn and appropriately apply physical restraint for the purpose of maintaining the safety of students and others

Paramedic, AEMT, EMT, or CNA.

Must possess high school diploma or equivalent.

Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English.

Sitting – Approximately 25% of shift.

Standing– Approximately 50% of shift.

Walking – Approximately 50% of shift.

Virginia or NC State EMT-Paramedic certification is required.

Required: High School Grad or Equivalent

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Other/National

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - Other/National

National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians-Paramedic (NREMT-Paramedic) - Other/National

Basic Life Support (BLS) - Other/National
