Skillset and Qualifications Synthetic Biologist

MSc or 3+ years of industry experience in biochemistry or microbiology or other biological or bioengineering-related discipline with appropriate experience.

Protein engineering and or polymer science experience is a plus.

Excellent oral and written communications skills are desired.

Manage production line management, new resin development, and internal R&D, which will result in patent applications.

3 or more years of relevant experience in synthesis and polymer chemistry

Take the lead in creating, manufacturing, and developing proprietary adhesives, resins, and polymers.

Closely collaborate with various business units within the organization to promote key initiatives and cross-business unit growth.

Create new compounds from the available building blocks while understanding how chemical structures and properties relate to one another.

Recognize and link the actual performance of polymers, resins, and adhesives, such as hardness, softness, and flexibility.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in developing and implementing technical research and development projects

Knowledge of automated, modern synthetic methods such as flow-based chemical, photochemical, and electrochemical techniques

Excellent written and oral communication skills as evidenced by a strong publication and presentation record

Excellent problem solving skills and a proactive approach to research

Advanced knowledge and proven ability to translate scientific findings into practical applications (e.g., patents)

Demonstrated strong mentoring and coaching capabilities for students, postdoctoral researchers, and young staff

Have 2+ years of industrial research experience.

Have demonstrable research experience in a laboratory environment.

Have experience working as member of a diverse team in a collaborative manner.

Have 5+ years of research experience.

Knowledge and experience in synthetic biology and enzyme screening

Ph.D. in Bioengineering, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Synthetic Biology, OR a B.S. or M.S. and demonstrated experience in industry.

Automation experience is a plus but a desire to learn to develop automation of lab experiments is a must.

Experience with analytical techniques, including NMR, UV-Vis, FTIR, Raman, XRD, RDE and EM

Working knowledge of membrane technologies and their applications in electrochemistry

Hands on experience working with various fuel cell and electrolyzer designs
