Substitute Nurse Jobs

Ability to apply for certification in school nursing with Department of Education.

Assist in the identification and education of students with special health problems, which affect learning and total growth.

Coordinate health services with health education and other phases of the total educational program.

Provide for personal care needs of physically handicapped pupil as required in their educational plans.

Provide basic health instruction to coordinate with Health Education Program as requested by classroom teachers.

A minimum of two years of child health, community health, or other relevant clinical nursing experience.

Interpret medical and nursing findings appropriate to the student's individualized education program and make recommendations to professional personnel directly involved.

Develop and implement the health education curriculum.

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through any subsequent phase of the examination.

Hold a valid nursing services credential, or

Have a Bachelor's Degree and an RN license, or

Are enrolled in a college/university to attain a nursing services credential.

Ability to demonstrate organizational, management, and interpersonal skills

Provide health assessments, referrals, follow-up, and reporting for health factors impacting student education

Bachelor's Degree Nursing degree required from an accredited professional nursing education program

Experience in direct patient care within the last five years

Minimum of 2 years experience as a registered nurse preferred

Possess a strong working knowledge of the RN scope of practice as defined by the Texas Board of Nursing
