Senior Associate Urban Designer Jobs

5+ years of experience in transportation, urban planning, or working with disadvantaged communities, with demonstrated successful project management experience.

Lead business development tasks, including proposals, capture strategy, and communication with senior management.

Strong analytical and computer skills, including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.

Strong writing skills, particularly for communicating complex, technical material in a clear, succinct, and readable manner.

Leading transportation planning processes, such as participatory planning; performance-based planning; transportation scenario analysis, comprehensive planning, and federal statewide/metropolitan planning and programming.

Develop strategies and processes that ensure high quality deliverables for the US Department of Transportation.

Solid communication and time management skills.

1-3 years of relevant architecture or urban design professional experience.

Demonstrated experience working at the district scale (e.g., 10+ acres).

Demonstrated experience preparing presentation materials, reports, research and analyses.

3D modelling and parametric design software skills.

Post-graduate professional experience is highly desirable.

Under minimal supervision, may develop complex urban design drawings.

Applies a solid level of understanding within an urban design and architectural discipline.

Understands codes, permits, and application processes related to the discipline.

Basic understanding of designer’s process of performing and verifying design calculations to support the overall project design.

Basic understanding of planning codes including form based and performance based standards

Basic understanding of objective design standards and how they are used to inform an urban design or architectural project
