Street Outreach Worker/Part-Time

Communicates with Pathways and Recreation Management, and Crisis Intervention units regarding arising situations; Writes reports regarding daily interventions and contacts;
Visits recreation centers, parks, and special events to cultivate relationships with citizens;
Assists with counseling individuals in understanding their situation, consequences of criminal behavior, and alternatives;
Provides direct intervention to disruptive situations;
Initiates referrals to various community-based services and professionals;
Works with staff on resolving issues and conflicts that develop at City Recreation Facilities and Programs;

Seasonal Street Workers are responsible for providing a variety of services to the public in an outdoor setting. They may work in parks, on streets, or in other public areas. Duties may include:

• Cleaning up litter and debris
• Maintaining public areas, such as parks and streets
• Providing information to the public
• Assisting with special events
• Monitoring public areas for safety
• Reporting any suspicious activity
• Assisting with crowd control
• Assisting with traffic control
Job Skills Required
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to communicate effectively with the public
• Ability to follow instructions and safety protocols
• Ability to work flexible hours
Job Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• CPR and First Aid certification (preferred)
• Previous experience in a customer service or public safety role (preferred)
Job Knowledge
• Knowledge of local laws and regulations
• Knowledge of safety protocols
• Knowledge of basic first aid
