Overview Registered Nurse Virginia Doc is a professional nurse who provides medical care to inmates in the Virginia Department of Corrections (DOC). This position requires a high level of knowledge and skill in providing medical care to inmates in a correctional setting. The Registered Nurse Virginia Doc is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of inmates in the DOC. Detailed Job Description The Registered Nurse Virginia Doc is responsible for providing medical care to inmates in the Virginia Department of Corrections. The Registered Nurse Virginia Doc is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of inmates in the DOC. The Registered Nurse Virginia Doc is responsible for providing medical care to inmates in a correctional setting, including providing medical assessments, administering medications, and providing health education. The Registered Nurse Virginia Doc is also responsible for coordinating with other health care providers to ensure that inmates receive the best possible care. Job Skills Required
• Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures
• Knowledge of correctional health care policies and procedures
• Ability to assess and evaluate patient health needs
• Ability to communicate effectively with inmates, staff, and other health care providers
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload
Job Qualifications
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Virginia
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field
• At least two years of experience in a correctional setting
• Current CPR certification
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
Job Knowledge
• Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures
• Knowledge of correctional health care policies and procedures
• Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations related to correctional health care
• Knowledge of infection control practices
• Knowledge of medications and their uses
Job Experience
• At least two years of experience in a correctional setting
• Experience in providing medical care to inmates in a correctional setting
• Experience in assessing and evaluating patient health needs
Job Responsibilities
• Assess and evaluate patient health needs
• Administer medications and provide health education
• Coordinate with other health care providers to ensure that inmates receive the best possible care
• Maintain patient confidentiality
• Monitor inmate health and provide medical care as needed
• Document patient care in accordance with state and federal regulations
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and other activities related to correctional health care
