ONS Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy Certification (required within 6 months of hire)

One (1) year of medical/surgical or oncology experience (preferred, not required)

Speaks knowledgeably about Option Care’s scope of services and effectively instructs patients about related financial obligations for care and service charges.

Participates in nursing department on-call responsibilities.

Actively participates in facility process improvement program and assists Supervisor or Nurse Manager with chart audit functions as applicable.

Safety requirements include closed toe-shoes, facemask, goggles, gown and/or gloves and functioning device for communication in both routine and emergency situations.

Preferred Qualifications & Interests (PQIs)

Demonstrates compliance with agency operations, Option Care’s policies and procedures, professional standards, local, state, federal regulations/guidelines, and accreditation standards.

College degree/certification required or equivalent experience

Two (2) years of RN Experience

One (1) year of high-volume critical thinking experience

One (1) year of Infusion experience in a hospital or home health setting preferred

Infusion Nurse Essential Duties and Responsibilities

RN License in the State you work

Maintains necessary clinical and managerial skills through continuing education clinical practice.

Demonstrated and consistent skills in communication, organization, team building, priority setting, customer service, problem solving and time management.

Demonstrates leadership/managerial skill, which includes interpersonal competence, organizational skills, financial management, personnel management, hardiness and adaptability.

1-2 years management experience preferred

Collaborates with nursing and hospital educational resources to facilitate learning experiences for staff and students assigned to the unit.

Maintains confidentiality, as appropriate, related to personnel management issues.

Rapid recognition of emergency situations and management of the emergent care needed for the oncology patients.

Continuing education is required and the nurse will attend a minimum of one oncology conference per year.

Minimum two (2) years of nursing experience as an RN with experience in Oncology, Infusion, Chemotherapy Administration.

Experience in medical triage and medical office, outpatient, critical care, oncology, or hospital medical surgical oncology experience preferred.

Confers with the physician as needed based on the medical status of the patient.

Initiates consultations with other health-related personnel (dietitian, social services, mental health, etc.).
