Overview Powersports Technicians are responsible for the maintenance and repair of motorized recreational vehicles such as motorcycles, ATVs, snowmobiles, and personal watercrafts. They inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical components of these vehicles, as well as perform routine maintenance. Detailed Job Description Powersports Technicians are responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical and electrical components of motorized recreational vehicles. They must be able to identify and diagnose problems with the vehicle, and then repair or replace any damaged or malfunctioning parts. They must also be able to perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake adjustments. In addition, they may be required to install aftermarket parts and accessories. Job Skill Requirements Powersports Technicians must have a strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems. They must also have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work with their hands. Job Qualifications Powersports Technicians must have a high school diploma or equivalent. They must also have experience working with motorized recreational vehicles, and may need to obtain certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). Job Knowledge Powersports Technicians must have a strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems. They must also have a working knowledge of the various parts and components of motorized recreational vehicles. Job Experience Powersports Technicians must have experience working with motorized recreational vehicles. They must also have experience performing routine maintenance and repairs.
