Plant Grounds Laborer Jobs

Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred

High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred

Experience in the repair and maintenance of the grounds keeping equipment, water fountains, and sprinkler systems: Preferred

Qualified Applicator (chemical) License (PAPA) or Pest Control Applicators (PCA) License: Preferred

Certificate in horticulture or landscape field: Preferred

Valid Driver’s License (DL) and must be at least 21 years of age or older: Required

Perform grounds-keeping and building maintenance duties.

Mow lawn either by hand or using a riding lawnmower; trim and edge around walks, flower beds and walls.

Landscape by planting flowers, grass, shrubs and bushes.

Apply pesticide to rid grounds of pests such as mosquitoes, wasps, ticks and others.

Apply fertilizer to ground to enhance growth.

Shovel snow from walkways and sprinkle ice down to prevent slipping.

Knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions

Knowledge of proper hazardous chemical disposal

Extensive working knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies in landscaping contracts

Perform routine maintenance and inspect equipment at the end of each day

We are seeking candidates with the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Budget management – service budget

Work management, resource allocation, and customer service

landscape contracting, landscape architecture, horticultural, forestry or urban forestry, landscape management, turfgrass management

Demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities

Labor relations experience in a union environment

Uses shovels or mechanical equipment to remove excess material from beneath the plant

Ensures compliance to all health and safety, environmental, compliance and human resources policies and procedures.
