Detailed Job Description Physical Therapy Assistants are responsible for providing physical therapy services to patients under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist. They help patients improve their mobility, reduce pain, and prevent or limit physical disabilities. PTAs also provide support to physical therapists in the development and implementation of treatment plans. They may also assist in the development of patient education materials, provide patient education, and assist in the development of home exercise programs. Job Skills Required Physical Therapy Assistants must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work with a variety of patients. They must also have strong problem-solving and organizational skills. In addition, they must be able to follow instructions and work independently. Job Qualifications Physical Therapy Assistants must have a high school diploma or equivalent. They must also complete an accredited physical therapy assistant program and pass the National Physical Therapy Examination. Job Knowledge Physical Therapy Assistants must have knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and pathology. They must also have knowledge of physical therapy modalities, therapeutic exercises, and patient education.
